The Stirling Energy Module (SEM) is based on a maintenance-free machine, which works according to the well-known Stirling process (STICORE: Stirling Core Unit). The SEM represents high technology on the basis of well-proved mechanical engineering.

The STICORE-technology can look back upon a long history:

YearEvent
1816The patent for the Stirling process is granted
1976The piston free Stirling engine is invented
1994The project STICORE is started by SIG Schweizerische Industrie-Gesellschaft
1997First STICORE experimental model
1999Patent for STICORE piston mechanics is granted
1999Specific FLOX-burner is adapted on STICORE
2002Successful laboratory tests with prototypes
2003Long-term tests successfully finished with prototypes
2004Foundation of Stirling Systems Ltd.
2005Start of field tests phase with Stirling Energy Modules (SEMs)
