When can one buy the Stirling Energy Module (SEM)?
The SEM is at the moment in the development and test stage. For that reason there are no brochures or pricelists available at the moment. A field test program has been started in March 2005; there after the market launch shall take place.
How does the Stirling Energy Module (SEM) function?
The SEM is based on a piston free Stirling machine that converts heat into electricity through a refined mechanism.
To what extent is the Stirling Energy Module (SEM) different from conventional Stirling machines?
New at our Stirling machine are the patented mechanics of its pistons. This makes the aggregate completely maintenance-free. Following an idea of the American engineer William Beale, we refrain from transforming the linear movement of the piston through a gear into a rotary motion. Instead of this, the pistons are held by springs and swing without specific bearing. With that a gear is unnecessary. By the way anadditional inverter is also not necessary since the oscillation frequency of the pistons exactly matches the electrical frequency.
How high are the emissions of pollutants?
The emissions of pollutants are up to ten times lower than those of conventional combustion engines and by far below the legal requirements for modern heating systems.
Does the Stirling Energy Module (SEM) produce carbon dioxide (CO2)?
The use of hydrocarbon based combustibles, such as fossil fuels orbiomass, induces the production o carbon dioxide. However, the amount of carbon dioxide produced correlates directly with the effectiv elyused amount of combustibles. Because of the very efficient overall use of combustibles, the SEM contributes considerably to the reduction of greenhouse gases.
Does the heating system function when electricity is produced?
Yes. The system even uses the waste heat to produce electricity in order to reduce its fuel consumption.
How high is the operating efficiency in comparison with other technologies?
At full load, the SEM reaches an overall efficiency of more than 90% already today and consequently excels other CHP technologies by far.
How can I participate in field tests?
Within the framework of the field tests we cooperate with establishedutility companies who chose the field test partners among their endcustomers.
Can I invest in Stirling Systems Ltd.?
The shares of Stirling Systems Ltd. are not publicly traded at present. We co-operate with industrial investors, large venture capitalists and financial institutions in order to guarantee a secure capital basis.
